Film Studies

Film Studies

Teaching Staff and Responsibilities

Mrs Bonnett: Subject Leader for Film Studies

Mrs Gillman: Teacher of Film Studies

KS5/A Level (Y12-13)

How do we organise teaching groups at KS5?

At KS5, classes are taught in option groups which are all mixed ability.

Which A Level specification do we prepare pupils for?

We have chosen WJEC Eduqas Film Studies A level.  In this two-year course, students will learn how to analyse and appreciate films in terms of how they are constructed through cinematography, mise-en-scène, sound, editing and performance (the key elements of film form). Additionally, students will learn about the contexts in which films have been produced and how spectators respond to the work filmmakers create. They will study a diverse range of films from around the world and different time periods. Students’ knowledge and understanding of film will also be applied through making a short film or writing a screenplay, accompanied with a digitally photographed storyboard.
