6th Form Taster Day

As you are aware our ‘Taster Day’ was scheduled to be on Thursday 1st July but due to current circumstances we have ‘gone virtual’.

Below you will find a welcome from our Headteacher and our Head Girl Team, as well as links to Taster Lessons to give you an idea of what each subject is like and a copy of the option blocks for this year.

We look forward to seeing you all on results day in August to sign up for your courses ready to start in September.

My name is Ms Qurrey and I am delighted to be able to say that from September I will be your Headteacher. I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.

It will be an exciting time for you starting your 6th Form career, whether as a two year or seven year learner at Sacred Heart of Mary. You will enjoy the care and support you gain from other pupils and the staff at the school and the challenge of your 6th Form studies.

The Head Girl, Lily and her Deputies Naomi and Amelia will ensure that you are welcomed into the Sacred Heart of Mary community and are able to get the very best out of your time in the 6th Form.  When asked what they really like about SHOM they stated that it was the fact that it was a ‘family’ and ‘a welcoming community’. SHOM is such a community of love, understanding and mutual respect where young people and staff are able to thrive, gain in knowledge and skills and truly follow the school motto of ‘Ut Vitam Habeant’, ‘live life to the full.’

Your end of Year 11 was not a usual one so it is even more important than ever that you come to school in September ready to grab every opportunity and immerse yourself in the life of the school. At these testing times we need to follow what St Paul says in his letter to the Philippians: ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthen me.’

Take care and enjoy your summer.

God Bless

Ms Qurrey

Welcome Message from the Head Girl Team

Welcome to the Sacred Heart of Mary Girl’s Sixth form. We know that Year 11 was a stressful year and was full of uncertainties. We can guarantee that Year 12 is a new start, full of opportunities, where you can pursue your interests and become more independent in your studies and in yourself.

It’s normal to feel worried and anxious about going into Year 12 and as your Head Girl Team, we hope that you will feel comfortable coming to us when you have any questions. Although it’s hard coming into Sixth Form, teachers and Year 13s are always there to support and encourage you as they want you to reach your full potential. Miss Holman, Head of Sixth Form and Mrs. Williams, Assistant Head of Sixth Form, along with the Sixth Form tutor team, are always there to help and guide you over the next two years.  A-levels might be daunting but with a lot of hard work and determination you will come out with amazing grades!! As we are starting to come back to “normal” you will take on the responsibility to be an adult and role model to the younger years as we restore our school community.

We are planning to incorporate many new aspects into this school to bring everyone back together and make your Sixth Form experience as memorable as possible. During your time in the Sixth Form you are encouraged to embrace the idea of ‘living life to the full’ by actively partaking in the school roles and events like House Music and Sports Day by helping and supporting Year 13. You will have the opportunity to become prefects, mentors, House officials as well as Head and Deputy Head Girls.  We are sure that you will all make brilliant contributions towards our school community! We are looking forward to meeting you all next year!!

Your Head Girl Team,

Lily, Amelia and Naomi
